Katie began her musical journey competing as a young pianist and on stage as part of the Langley Ukulele Ensemble. She is an alumna of Kwantlen Polytechnic University and graduated with a Masters of Music in Opera Performance from the University of British Columbia.

 

During her studies, Katie sang the roles of Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte, Nicklausse in Les contes d'Hoffmann, and Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro. Her awards include first place in voice at the Canadian National Music Festival, a young artist's encouragement award at the Metropolitan Opera Western Canadian District Auditions, second prize in the International Summer Academy's Richard Strauss Wettbewerb at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and a concert engagement in Japan from the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques Competition in Montréal. Katie was subsequently engaged as a young artist in residence at L'Opéra de Montréal, where she made her Canadian stage debut as Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette.

 

Katie has performed as a soloist with Vancouver Island Opera, the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, Ópera Guadalajara, Orquesta Sinfónica de Zapopan, l'Orchestre symphonique de Laval, l'Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil, l'Orchestre symphonique de L'Agora, l'Opéra de Montréal, the Surrey City Orchestra and the West Coast Symphony Orchestra.

Katie performs a variety of musical genres, including mariachi, and enjoys sharing her passion for music off stage with her students.
